10 Awesome Mods for Your Steam Sale Games

The recent Steam Summer Sale may have left your pockets a little lighter, and we want to make sure you get the biggest bang for your buck. That’s why we’ve assembled this list of ten awesome mods for games you might have purchased on sale, because if there’s one great thing about PC gaming, it’s the free DLC that is mods.

Game: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Mod: Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas

When GTA3 launched, the only thing that would have made the game better for me would have been a multiplayer component for the series. Thanks to modders, aka some of the most awesome people in the world, I can live my dream.

This installer package consists of a game client, dedicated server for Windows and a resources package, which includes map editor and a race gamemode, along with several other gamemodes, maps and utility scripts.

Game: ARMA II: Combined Operations
Mod: DayZ

Who doesn’t love zombie mods?

DayZ brings zombies to Arma 2 in a setting similar to 28 Days Later, with an infection that has left the world in a post-apocalyptic state. The mod features realistic zombies, new weapons and vehicles, a custom medical system, and a persistent server.

Game: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
Mod: STALKER Complete 2009 (2012)

This mod turns S.T.A.L.K.E.R. into a 2012 release, with updated graphics and added functionality that don’t change the original story or gameplay. Contained within are new textures, sounds, music, sky, weather system and visual effects, along with bug fixes, AI improvements, upgraded shaders, ragdoll physics, a revamped user interface and more.

Game: Fallout 3
Mod: Fallout 3 Reborn: A Realism Mod

This modification aims to create a more action-packed and intense Fallout experience. Guns feel deadly — enemies don’t just shrug off bullets to the head anymore. It’s all about high-damage weapons and other realism-enhancing features.

Game: Age of Empires III
Mod: Age of Empires III The Forgotten Empires

The mod allows players to choose between all 14 known nations and eight new ones with a full working home city. The new nations include: Incas, Pirates, Egyptians, Mongolians, Italians, East India Trading Company, Western Pacific Railroad Company, and United States.

I find it a bit ironic that gamefront, formerly filefront, is linking to moddb for downloads of mods which they likely host.
