13 Gorgeous Examples of 4K PC Gaming

The PC Gaming Master Race is only as good as the resolution it plays on. We have grown tired of these paltry, meager 1080p and 2560×1600 resolutions. We hunger for 4K, the glory that is 3840×2160. 8,294,400 pixels staring deep into your soul.

Unfortunately, even the most veteran of our ranks (yours truly included) don’t have $10,000 laying around for an Nvidia Battlebox and appropriate 4K monitor. For now, we must gaze upon the pixels of others with envy, jealousy, and murderous rage.

If you don’t understand why 4K is The Next Big Thing (TV finally caught on after all that 3D nonsense, after all), take a gander at these full-4K screenshots. Click through to reach the great 2160p Beyond.

4K is obviously the future, although I find it a bit of a hard thing to do right now. And honestly 4k is something I plan to skip myself. 1080p looks very nice on my 52″ TV right now and even though 4K is higher my PC would probably explode in that resolution. So 4K is the future although I think it won’t be the number to beat for long as I predict 8K will be probably around in the next 5 years.

Looking at those screenshots, sooner or later our screens will get the ppi like our phones where the pixels are so small we can’t see them, and adding more will become pointless as our eyes won’t actually be able to enjoy the difference.

The Last picture isn’t Grid 3 or Project Cars, that game is Test Drive Unlimited 2 “TDU2″

Well, to hell with it…. games are still lacking something to be more photorealistic, more resolution would only reveal how artificial everything looks. I mean, you can tell the difference between a game and real life in 420p youtube. The day you become confused… though, I’d say you’re getting old.

I believe textures still have a long way to come before 4K should even be considered. I think Tiagonal is right about the higher resolutions highlighting the unrealistic aspects of current graphics. When games start to look as good as CGI cutscenes, and we have affordable hardware to power such graphics and resolutions, then we can consider 4k.

Thats more than just 4K resolution, that’s max graphics settings, which I doubt runs smooth framerates at 4K resolution on any system today, except maybe the most extreme of extreme PC builds…maybe…
