15 Minutes of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Footage Surfaces
A new video containing fifteen minutes of in-game footage of the upcoming Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has surfaced, or “leaked”, ahead of any official release from Ubisoft.
The video was posted on a little known Youtube channel based in the Philippines called DiscoNachoPiggy and is strangely enough voice by a player with an Eastern European accent. The channel is curiously absent of any other narrated gaming videos.
The video shows everything from the game’s introductory section to the middle of the game’s first mission, in which Rex and his partner make their way through a high-tech military facility, kill cyborgs, and pilfer their hearts.
It begins with a series of cutscenes reminiscent of late 80s games from Data East and Konami, with influences from movies like Terminator, Predator and Universal Soldier.
The introduction is amusing, in that it forces the protagonist to go through a lengthy, and poorly made series of tutorial prompts called “Military Navigation for Idiots” and “the ABCs of War”, which he complains about as players often do when they’re forced to go through these sections. It’s not long before he gets to get on with the killing—with gameplay mechanics identical to Far Cry 3′s—and that goes on for about ten minutes or so until the video abruptly ends.
The video follows several batches of “leaked” screenshots and the game’s initial leak with little to no PR push outside of a few posts on reddit and NeoGAF, which leads us to think that Ubisoft may be attempting to spread details about the game through word of mouth.
For what it’s worth, the gameplay footage manages to speak for itself.
