2014 Dota 2 Championships Set for July

Seattle’s 17,000-seat KeyArena will be the home of the 2014 Dota 2 Championship, The International.

Valve made the announcement today, pinning a July 18-21st date on what has rapidly become one of the biggest eSports tournaments in the world.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, April 4 at 3 p.m. Pacific via Ticketmaster. A four-day pass will run you $99 for general admission, $199 for floor seating, and $500 for the VIP level.

Valve has yet to announce what Dota 2 players will be fighting for. Last year, the prize pool was a whopping $2.8 million thanks to The International Interactive Compendium, a companion set of tournament documents, games, items and features anyone can purchase. The more people who buy the Compendium, the more items and features are added, and $2.50 is added to The International’s prize pool.

Valve said it will reveal the 2014 Interactive Compendium soon.

I love the compendium but I hate the pro scene. It makes player tryhard and destroy the meta.
