25% of Games Sold This Year Will Be COD and GTA V
Grand Theft Auto V and the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise will account for 25% of the games you buy this year.
Well, maybe not you, personally, but according to a report by US-based financial analyst Baird Equity Research, the two upcoming titles will account for almost a quarter of all video game sales in the coming fiscal year. The group also estimates a third of all game-related revenue made in the next year will come from those two titles alone.
Given COD’s track record, this hardly comes as a surprise. After all, Call of Duty: Elite received one million premium signups in less than a week. Bobby Kotick has his hands in your pockets, and he won’t pull them out until he’s grabbed every last dime.
