360 Gamers Officially Shut Out of FFXIV

Final_Fantasy_XIV_Online.jpg

It seems that Square Enix and Microsoft could never solve the issues that would need to be solved to allow the MMO on Xbox Live, despite FFXI being on Microsoft’s sixth generation console, and that no development is happening on the Xbox 360. This comes straight from the mouth of Hiromichi Tanaka at Squeenix. If I had to guess, I would say this is probably the end of the discussion about whether or not the game will hit on Microsoft’s vastly inferior system*, and so Final Fantasy XIV will stay where it belongs on PC (in September) and PS3 (next year) only.

This info courtesy of an interview with Tanaka by 4players.de, which I found via Massively.

*The Xbox 360 is actually a fine console that I love and use regularly. That was a joke.

“Vastly superior system” what a load of BS. The last Final Fantasy online game was on a 360 and PS2, which is a even larger gap then the PS3 and 360. I love how people act as if the PS3 is so far advanced over the 360. Gimmie a break.

Xbox 360 is inferior. MS took the cheap way out and made into different SKUs for its systems. If you want everything you be paying same price as PS3. It doesn’t come with bluray or HD movie play with it either. And FF13 came out inferior to its original graphics if it was only on PS3. Glad this game won’t be on Xbox.

Finds it funny all these people talking how they dont want Xbox to be a part cuz then it will get the graphics “dumbed down” compared to jus being on PS3 and PC. The PC version will be able to display up to 1080p while the PS3 will be locked to 720p max. Suck it those on the PS3 better than 360 bandwagon. They r both great consoles. Grow up.

Patrick, telling someone to “grow up” over an argument about video games consoles really has no meaning. People are stating legitimate facts about the systems. The PS3 DOES have better graphics than the 360 and I don’t see why 360 owners just can’t accept it. I’ve played both systems and the PS3 does have better graphics, even with both plugged into an HDMI output and on the same TV with the same cables. And the PS3 won’t be “locked” to a max 720p. FFIV has always been a game for great scenery and views and I expect it to push the limits on the PS3′s graphics. I predict a 1080p output will be supported.

Nope, SE announced back last year at Gamescom that Final Fantasy XIV will be locked to 720P@60FPS on the PS3. the PC version will have textures for 1080P but the increase in quality wont be that drastic.

I own both the PS3 and the 360. If your on the 360 band wagon about comparing the ps3. then do your research. The 360 is inferior to the PS3 on graphics and processing power. If your blindly making assumptions and your own opinions about the ps3 not out powering the 360 then your in serious denial. The PS3 can handle 51-billion dot product operations per second and the Xbox can handle 33.6. This is their processing power and this is empirical and not opinions. The graphics is obvious and no competition, 360 graphics look good, but ps3 graphics are far more detailed. Theres a lot of controversy about the two gpus, but if you have both systems, you came make that judgement for yourself. Plus built in wifi for ps3 is awesome. The 360 JUST released their slim version with built in wifi, after how many years of screwing their consumers into buying an adapter? thats another $100 just to get online, putting the cost of the system up with the PS3, and you dont even have a Blu-ray

Have you seen the difference in graphics between FFXI vs FFXIV? So what if the 360 can compete with PS2 graphics? You fail to realize that the PS2 is an entire generation behind the 360, and still the PS2 can render the game. Both with its processing power and graphics.

Actually, I own both systems as well as a PC. I have an HDTV which both systems are connected to. I love how morons compare the graphics on the PS3 to the graphics on a 360. I love virtual pissing contests because they show how low the IQ really is on the average consumer (low IQ makes for a great fanbase, look at all the players who play WoW and Halo). Gamespot did a graphics test on both consoles side by side, some time ago. I’ve had the luxury of having both consoles, so I was very easily able to come to the same conclusion as any other unbiased person playing video games for just the sake of playing. THE GRAPHICS DIFFERENCES ON BOTH SYSTEMS ARE SO MINUTE THAT YOU REALLY CAN’T TELL UNLESS YOU HAVE CYBERNETIC EYES. The ones up here yelling about how FFXIV isn’t going to be on 360 because of inferior processing/graphics power are very likely among the lower IQ consumers, or just trolls who are bored. The *truth* behind why FFXI is NOT going to be on 360 has NOTHING to do with it’s graphical/processor or any other hardware flaw. It’s quite simply because of Live. Anyone saying otherwise is either stupid, a fan boy, a sheep that believes everything their friends say, or all three. GO READ THE NEWS, MORONS.

“The 360 is inferior to the PS3 on graphics and processing power.”

LOL! Is that why the 360 has a better GPU? Shut the up and go back to slurping on Sony’s . Only overly sensitive, insecure Sony sycophants like you and the nut who wrong the article push these lies.

We’ve had a dozen developers say there’s is not an ounce of difference between the two systems.

I agree with “None Given” All you idiots have took this conversation down the wrong route. Clearly The only reason why it cant be done is purely based on the internet portion and it has happened with all cross platform games such and “PSU” players not being about to interact with the PC players. XBL uses all dedicated servers so its not “TRUE” internet which is why xbl will never get a browser.
