A 4K In-Engine Star Citizen Video Is Predictably Attractive

I’m not convinced there’s any real need to gear a game’s advertising toward eight people while potentially making everyone else feel inferior for not being able to consume said advertising as it is intended. That said, this new ad for Christ Roberts’ flight sim MMO Star Citizen, which is said to be “rendered 100% in-engine in real time at 4k resolution, is quite attractive even when viewed in 1080p, as I just did.

What is the point of this, considering the cross-section of people who both have a 4K display and a rig capable of rendering Star Citizen that way is nonexistent? Here’s how it’s explained on the game’s official site: “The next generation of CPUs and GPUs will make this kind of experience possible in gameplay, and we are building Star Citizen to be ready.” So Star Citizen will be the new Crysis, is what they’re saying.

If you are a 4K darling, though, you should click here to download this video with all its pizels intact.

If this is your introduction to the beauty of Star Citizen, here’s some more where that came from for you to drool over.

I just finished building my new liquid cooled rig with crossfire – can’t wait to test it on this game.

I bought a Rear Admiral package after holding off for a long time in taking part in the kickstart…….I held out for as long as I could, as I was a Wing Commander Die hard fan, and plan on transferring my account to my son afterwards…..Going to buy a brand new rig after the final touches are done as well….Between this and X: Rebirth, I plan to have my Thursday nights covered.
