A Bowling Ball for the PlayStation Move. Really?

One of the attendant curses that has materialized from motion control gaming is a plague of ridiculous peripherals. Tennis rackets, golf clubs, and even an inflatable car have all hit the market in the past. Today, we may have seen the most interesting peripheral yet: a bowling ball.

According to manufacturer CTA Digital’s website,

If you want a more realistic bowling experience while using the Move controller, you’ll need CTA Digital’s Bowling Ball for the PlayStation┬« Move. This ultra-realistic accessory looks and feels like the same ball you’d find in an actual bowling alley but with all the functions of a Move controller.

To say we’re a bit skeptical of the need for such an accessory is putting it mildly, but I guess some people really want to replicate that ‘bowling alley feeling.’ Stay tuned for the YouTube videos of folks tossing these things right through their new 3D TVs. You know they’re coming.

Here’s a promo video of the peripheral, and you can see it for sale on Amazon for $30.
