Activision Blizzard Q3 Earnings Report Confirms They Can Basically Print Money

Thought that the unsettling (for Blizzard) news that WOW has been bleeding customers like a 19th century European Monarch meant bad tidings for the goliath that is Activision Blizzard? Think again. The company’s Q3 earnings are absolutely gigantic. During the quarter, which ended in September, they netted a staggering $754 million dollars. That’s over a three month period. Weirder still, these figures don’t include a single Call of Duty: modern Warfare 3 pre-order.

VG Chartz has already estimated something like 6.5 million copies of MW3 were sold in pre-orders, a number likely to be, if not dwarfed, certainly beaten by release sales. That means they have already made $390,000,000 before the game even launched. It’s no wonder then that they’re talking about making more than 900,000,000 in Q4 and predicting 4.3 billion in total revenues for 2011. Damn. Seriously.

Hell, I’m not going to even try to analyze this anymore. Instead, let’s check in with my boys in the Wu Tang for expert commentary on Activision Blizzard’s ridiculous money making
