[UPDATE] Activision: No Guarantee Call of Duty: Elite Will Be Coming to PC
UPDATE: Activision clarified their position earlier today in a tweet from the official CallOfDutyElite Twitter account. Here’s what they said:
“We misspoke. Our goal has always been to provide a free PC offering for ELITE. Stay tuned for an update as timing is still being determined.”
Activision’s free/premium statistics and social platform, Call of Duty: Elite, has had a rough time of it since it launched last week. The PC version still hasn’t launched, and Activision has already said it will have “reduced functionality.” Now, they’ve said that they can’t guarantee that the service will launch on PC at all.
In a message on the official Call of Duty: Elite Twitter account, Activision said,
We are working towards a universal Elite experience but we cannot guarantee if or when a version will be available for the PC.
Unfortunately, it looks like PC gamers may get shafted once again. It seems to be happening more and more, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to get used to it. First there were the dedicated server issues, then the re-used dialogue boxes from Modern Warfare 2, and now this.
For all the criticism leveled at Battlefield 3′s Battlelog, at least they managed to get the platform up and running on the PC.
