Activision Will Release An Open-World Spider-Man Game In 2012
Un-fazed by dismal Spider-Man: Edge of Time reviews, Activision has high hopes for their next Spidey-related game. Simply titled The Amazing Spider-Man, it’s timed to tie-in with next year’s cinematic reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, and like Spider-Man 2 will be an open world game. The game was announced this weekend at New York Comic Con by Activision’s Doug Hede. He acknowledged the less than stellar reaction to Edge of Time, but super swears that because the film on which the game is based has been in development for so long, the game itself will get a better response.
Some enterprising fan captured the video shown at NYCC and posted it on Youtube. So enjoy this closer look at an very bendy, elastic looking Spidey that honestly does feel a lot more authentically Spider-Manish that Toby Maguire’s weirdly beefy looking wall-crawler.

Best part about Spiderman 2 was fighting guys on the rooftops, and either throwing them off the top of a skyscraper, or jumping from the top of a skyscraper with a thug in tow, for a Super Ultimate Omega Alpha Piledriver of Pain and Death and more Pain.
Sometimes, you could land on top of a moving vehicle too, for extra effect. Too bad the cars took no damage in that game.
