Age of Mythology Extended Edition Coming in May

As if an HD version of Age of Empires 2 wasn’t good enough, Microsoft Studios has now announced a release window for Age of Mythology Extended Edition.

First announced in late February and slated to release on Steam in May, Age of Mythology Extended Edition remakes the strategy classic that combines the gameplay of the Age of Empires series with a setting built on the mythology of the Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse civilizations. A later expansion, titled The Titans, added the Atlantean civilization as well, and is included in the Extended Edition. The original game may have released in 2002, bu0t the Extended Edition is packing some serious modern updates, including…

  • Improved Water and Lighting
  • Full Steamworks Integration
  • Twitch TV Integration
  • Enhanced Observer Mode
  • Support for Win 7/8 and HD Monitors

Without question, the most exciting thing on that list is full Steamworks integration. You can expect a full array of mods to pop up for the game after its launch. Don’t believe me? Someone already made a City of Toronto civilization for Civ 5 that stars Rob Ford. Just think what they can do when they’re allowed to create gods.

The Age of Mythology Extended Edition will be available soon for pre-order on Steam, and it set for a release in May. Until you can plunk down the cash for it, here’s the silly little reveal they did for it back in February to distract you.
