Ah, Hell — The Internet Starts Speculating About Some Valve Reveal in 2012
I’m really not into all this “will they, won’t they” Valve teaser ARG garbage. But for the sake of the fact that everyone else seems to eat this crap up, here we go.
So, supposedly, Reddit says Gabe Newell said this: that in 2012, Valve would announce something with a “3″ in it. (The rabid Half-Life fan should note that every Valve franchise is now primed to receive a 3: Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead and Portal in addition to whatever the hell Gordon Freeman might get up to.) You can read the supposed Newell email right here. There’s not a lot going on.
Now, there was also this from last week, in which a Valve programmer wore a Half-Life 3 shirt to a developer event, caught by Chandana Ekanayake of Uber Entertainment, the makers of Super Monday Night Combat.
And finally, there’s the VGAs, where Valve played this video of Portal 2′s Wheatley accepting that game‘s award. You can watch it below, but note that it’s full of codes and numbers all over it. Valve loves to hide clues in these sorts of things, and as PC World reports, this has the makings of yet another (somewhat irritating) Valve ARG.
So yeah. You decide if you want to start analyzing the living crap out of that video. Let me know what you discover. I’ll be over here doing anything else.
