Alan Wake Fan Recreates Diver’s Isle in Minecraft
I don’t play Minecraft myself, and images like these are exactly why — I don’t have the kind of free time necessary to really enjoy the game, and I’m worried that if I buy it, I’ll wind up homeless, camping out in the library, building full-scale digital replicas of the Battlestar Galactica fleet and talking to myself.
But I can still get my fix by checking out all the cool things other people are doing, like this Alan Wake fan who is in the middle of diligently recreating Diver’s Isle, the location of the infamous cabin that kicks off the events of the game.
So far, so good for this guy, although as he admits in the Alan Wake forum post in which he posted the images, Cauldron Lake’s a bit small. And not metaphorically small (“It’s not a lake, it’s an ocean”), but actually more of a pond. To be fair, just the lake is going to take this poor guy forever, since it appears to be pretty close to a mile across or more in the screenshots (forgive me if my memory is a poor judge of scale).
Know what would be really cool? If it had a typewriter up on the second floor, or if it could fly in the air and spin around like in “The Writer.”
