Alduin’s Wall Shows the Story of Skyrim

Elder Scrolls lore nerds, get thy web browsing asses over to Game Informer (in a different window) and check out the backstory filled Alduin’s Wall.

It’s a big interactive graphic showing that stone relief we’ve been seeing in the trailers and in images, and by mousing over various points going from left to right, you can read snippets of the whole backstory that’s led up to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim — which spans all the previous Elder Scrolls games.

There’s a ton of information linking all the stories together with the prophecy of the return of the dragons, which is the main focus on Skyrim and basically the end of the world. Oblivion, for example, heralded the end of the Septim line, which is part of the prophecy, as was the opening of the Oblivion gates. All of it leads to Alduin, a new end of the world, and you, one of the dragonborn.

Kind of nice to get a big dose of story to go with all the revelations about how the game will actually play. Although — and please correct me in the comments, as I am not a fully versed Elder Scrolls lore nerd — but doesn’t the fulfillment of the Elder Scrolls prophecy suggest that Skyrim might be the last game in the series, at least as we know them?
