Alien Swarm Is Free. FREE I TELL YOU!

This is pretty fracking cool. It’s always great to see modders go from hobbyists to ballers-shot callers-impallas, but when the reason is a game this awesome it’s especially so. After years too long,  4-player, god’s eye view shooter Alien Swarm is now available for free, over at Steam. Why yes, you’re right, that is pretty awesome. Join up with up to 4 friends for combination co-op/squad based assault wherein you’ll use fantastically exaggerated weaponry on swarms of eldrich abominations… who swarm… at you. Look, the title says it all, OK?

Alien Swarm started out (somewhat) back back in the day as an Unreal Tournament mod. However, (as you’ll see) these guys are really goddamned good and they were quickly snatched up for the majors by Valve. Which… delayed things somewhat. 2 years later it’s finally out, now running on Source, and presumably since these guys hit the big time, they’ve decided to give away the milk they had prior to going pro for free. If that’s not nice enough for you, the complete code and modding tools are included. You can get your hands on it here. Meanwhile, get a load of the trailer and drool, droool, droooool.
