Aliens: Colonial Marines Adds ‘Escape’ Multiplayer Mode
We’ve already spent a little time with the marines vs. aliens competitive team deathmatch-style multiplayer mode that’s coming with Aliens: Colonial Marines, and it’s pretty cool. The aliens have powers. The marines have powers. They fight.
But there’s also another competitive mode coming, called “Escape,” that sounds a bit like the general gameplay of Valve’s Left 4 Dead series.
In Escape, four players cast as marines have to work through levels in an attempt to reach a safe zone and “escape.” Meanwhile, four players in xenomorph roles try to intercept and kill them, as fast as possible. Each team has to work together to meet its goal, much like how infected have to work together to stop survivors in L4D. The whole thing is timed, so both teams are working against the clock as well.
Sounds kinda cool. F.E.A.R. 3 had a similar mode, in which players had to avoid a sweeping wave of death that was constantly pursuing them. And the strategy inherent in Left 4 Dead is the coolest thing about the game’s design. Really, I’m on board with anything that’s not some version of a Horde mode.
What do you guys think? Excited for the multiplayer possibilities of Colonial Marines, or are you intending to skip them?
