Aliens: Colonial Marines Updated With 4GB Patch

The PC version of Aliens: Colonial Marines has been updated with content as big as the game itself. Weighing in at 4 gigabytes, the game’s new update contains all the changes that were in the recent update for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, with many PC-specific changes.

Notably, the patch includes new high resolution textures, a variety of visual improvements, and the addition of a mouse smoothing option. The patch also addresses crashes that players have been experiencing on the PC.

The patch also tweaks the AI of both enemy and friendly units to “be more aggressive and responsive”, so monsters will be more aware of the player.

The full list of fixes can be found here.

In spite of the update, the game is still far from what players were expecting of Aliens: Colonial Marines, but it’s a step in the right direction. The patch will be downloaded automatically upon launching Steam.

So four extra gigs just to make the game sort of run the way it was supposed to at its launch months ago.

Sounds like they shouldn’t have even bothered to release the game until now.

A step in the right direction. Once the next patch fixes the broken plot and dialogue and adds in much more of the promised gameplay in the trailers, I might buy the game…
