Amazon.com Launches Customer Vote Promotion

Amazon.com’s got a deal going on that could be potentially awesome to a select group of people. Basically, it goes like this: they’ve selected three hot items in several categories, including video game consoles, that could get major discounts. The thing is, you have to vote for the winning choice or the runner-up to get the discount, and even then only 1,000 randomly selected people will get access to it. Still, they’re offering a Wii for $79, an Xbox 360 Arcade for $99, and a PS3 (40GB) for $139; that’s around %60-65 off. You have to vote before November 22 to be eligible, and then you have to check back periodically to see if you got it, but for a next-gen console on the cheap, that’s definitely worth it.

Didn’t Amazon do something like this last year? And then, when the time came to purchase the discounted item, the Amazon servers basically melted. By the time the servers came back up, all of the discounted units were sold already.

Hopefully Amazon learned their lesson from last year
