And the Next World of Warcraft Expansion Just Might Be Called…

We’re used to World of Warcraft expansions having violent, almost scary names. Apparently, the fourth expansion might be a little more peaceful sounding. According to a Blizzard trademark filing spotted by MMO Champion, logic says the next WoW expansion will be called… Mists of Pandaria.

Yeah, that’s what I thought, too.

It’s not a bad name, even if it does make me think of Avatar. Also, yay for panda bears, which is what lives in Pandaria.

Personally, I just don’t see it. I’d be more inclined to believe that it’s an upcoming add-on for the trading card game.

I dont see it either. A while ago there was some parody about the pandar, I doubt blizzard would do that.

Part of the speculation is based on the regions that the trademark was filed in. The theory goes that card game, expansion, and book trademarks are all filed in specific regions only for reasons known only to Blizzard.

This trademark filing matches the same regions where the “Wrath of the Lich King” trademarks were filed. It also supposedly matches the same pre-BlizzCon announcement schedule used for the “Lich King” expansion reveal.
