Angry Birds Unseated As Top-Selling iPhone App — For Now

It’s been nearly a year of Angry Birds. A year of sequels and news and spreading the game to every platform ever conceived┬áby humans and probably a few on other planets.

Frankly, I am sick of Angry Birds — which is why I’m grinning with delight over Tiny Wings, the most recent app to dislodged those suicide-bombing pig-hating birds (who are really just heads, you know, and that’s creepy) as the No. 1 Paid App in the iTunes App Store.

This isn’t the first time since Angry Birds rose to prominence that a game has taken its spot as king of the heap, but it never lasts. So here’s hoping that might change, because Tiny Wings is a great, addictive little game. It’s got appealing, easygoing cartoon graphics, it’s got a bird, it’s got physics and it’s challenging while being simple at the same time.

Tiny Wings goes for $0.99, same as Angry Birds, and if you’re into iPhone games, you should check it out. It has kept me busy all week.
