APB: Vendetta Lands on Kickstarter

Chances are you’ve heard of APB. Once the open-world MMO darling child of Realtime Worlds, it dragged its parent company through the mud and forced a rebranding into APB: Reloaded. While this incarnation of the franchise has been quietly successful – nothing to write home about, but not bad – the folks at Reloaded Productions are unsatisfied. They want a new entry in the franchise.

APB: Vendetta is that new entry, and it recently hit Kickstarter with a goal of $300,000. If the promotional materials are to be believed, it’s a big change in what APB’s devs have done. I think it’s a good change, though. Vendetta aims to be a stand-alone, purchase-once multiplayer shooter set in the world of APB. Gameplay inspiration includes two of my favorite mods (The Specialists and Action Half-Life) and one of my favorite movies (Hard Boiled). There’s a distinct focus on movement, with bonuses given to players to wallrun, dive, slide, and do all sorts of other crazy nonsense. The trailer makes it clear that they already have a working prototype, and that the Kickstarter is so they can afford a full-time team for the project so it comes out within a reasonable timeframe. May as well give it a look!

Bah, this is a mere pretender. Now give me APB on the Atari Lynx circa the early 90′s. Thats some exciting APB action.

Oh my god… No wonder APB:Reloaded isn’t achieving anything… They’re working on this POS game.. Wow. Please for the love of god ditch this and go back to working on reloaded. If you actually add new content to the game and hire 2, TWO people to spectate servers every once in a while to watch for hackers, the game will be tremendously better. WTF were you guys thinking when you started making this? Wallrunning and crap in an FPS? Have you seen the other games that tried this in MP games and failed? Obviously not. Maybe take out the stupid wall running and it will be ok, and REDUCE THE GOD DAMN RUN SPEED….. This will be such a crappy game if you keep it like this.
