Apple's 'App Store' to have Over 160 Games for iPhone

The App Store launched today, and while you can get games featuring Pacman and Ms. Pacman along with other offereings, that is just the tip of the mobile gaming iceberg.

According to a recent chat with the New York Times, Steve Jobs has revealed that over 160 games will be available for the iPhone upon launch. 500 applications are supposedly now available as of today, 25% of which are free while the remaining will be sold for less than $9.99 a piece – 1/3 of the first apps available will be games and the developers will be getting 70% of the profits from the sale of these mobile games.

Per the NYT article:

Mr. Jobs insisted that the 30/70 split is a more generous deal for developers than what is common in the video game industry. “We are not trying to be business partners,” said Jobs. And he said that Apple would provide distribution and marketing.
