Arkham Asylum/City Writer Not Returning for Another Batman Game

Paul Dini, the main writer behind Rocksteady’s beloved Batman games, most likely will not return for a future series entry. According to tweets by Dini, not only is he not aware of any future Batman games, Arkham City was the last Batman game he would write for. Granted, there hasn’t been confirmation by Rocksteady of another Batman game either, but rumors point to a possible prequel featuring the Justice League.

You can see all of Dini’s related tweets in a post over at Arkhamcity.co.uk

With all due respect to Dini and his great work (he’s a renowned writer even outside Batman), as long as Kevin Conroy returns and Rocksteady is developing, I’ll be pre-ordering pretty much anything featuring the world’s greatest detective.

While I don’t like the idea of Dini not writing the next game since he has done such a great job, it’s not like there aren’t others that could do it. Plus, it’s not like comics don’t change writers on a regular basis.

With what they have done with Azrael, Hush and the many hints concerning Scarecrow wanting revenge against Batman i would have prefered a sequel than a prequel with the Justice League.

There are at least 23 individuals running around DC Earth at or near Superman’s power, and that’s not counting the Green Lanterns and the Flashes.

When you bring in the rest of that comic realities continuity the idea of Batman even being needed just sort of falls apart.

Batman works in a world where there aren’t superheroes, just heroes.
