ARPG Goodness: Path of Exile Launches on Steam Today

Diablo 3 not dark or deep enough for you? Me neither.

Thankfully, there’s Path of Exile, an action-RPG that takes nearly all of its cues from Diablo 2. Best of all, it’s free-to-play (without any pay-to-win shenanigans) and it’s set for launch on Steam today.

If you’re an ARPG fan, you’ve likely already boarded the Path of Exile train. Indie dev Grinding Gears Games put this one into open beta way back in January, but even if you made your way through Wraeclast months ago, there’s ample reason to return for the official launch. There are new areas, monsters, modes, and a climactic boss fight. Oh, and there’s even a whole new class, the Scion. A balance of all three key attributes – strength, dexterity, and intelligence – you can progress the Scion through Path of Exile’s ridiculously massive skill tree to create just about any type of custom character you can imagine. Fun.

And there’s much more. For the full launch patch notes, head on over to the official Path of Exile forum.

When you’re ready to kill-loot-level-repeat, Path of Exile’s doors will open on Steam at 1pm Eastern.
