One day I hope (in)sanity returns to the games industry and cheat codes are allowed back into games.

I miss the days when I was allowed to fly over a city in a tank or have infinite ammo for my gun that shot ducks.

Just imagine how much more thought provoking Call of Duty or Gears of War could be if you were in a Koala suit that shot freeze-rays.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was always fun to mess with some goofy gimmick that totally changed how you played a game, or injected some level of novelty to something that I had played over and over.

Unfortunately, it seems like most companies aren’t interested in such things. Now unlockables like weapons and costumes can be sold later as DLC, cheats can be found online so there is very little reason to buy strategy guides, and those fun gimmicks are treated as a waste of resources.
