Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation Wins Writers Guild Award

Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation was awarded 2012′s Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing by the Writer’s Guild of America.

The other five nominees included 007 Legends, Assassin’s Creed 3, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Halo 4, and Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

AC3: Liberation co-script writer Jill Murray tweeted a picture of her award from the ceremony, with a caption that read:

“Holy crap, we won the Writers Guild of America award for game writing. This actually just happened.”

Of the six nominees, the best writing likely did win, but I’m still surprised that The Walking Dead was not a contender. The reason seems to be eligibility criteria that include being a member of the WGA Caucus.

I didn’t think the writing was anything special with this game. Then again, the requirement that nominees are also guild members limits the field, so it’s not really a big deal to me.
