Assassin’s Creed Getting F2P Mobile Spin-Off

Ubisoft has been a pretty serious contender in the mobile market and has big plans for the platform over the next year, and for free-to-play as well.

Spearheading the effort is Assassin’s Creed Utopia, a new mobile title in the series that will also be free-to-play, which Ubisoft announced as part of its Ubisoft Digital Days 2012 event. It’ll be set in Colonial America (so right near the setting of Assassin’s Creed III) and is focused on city-building and strategy gameplay. Hopefully that doesn’t mean it’ll be Assassin’s Creed: FarmVille (Ubisoft already did Assassin’s Creed: Mafia Wars on Facebook last year [Full disclosure: It was actually kind of fun to play, though]). Expect it around Christmas.

Ubisoft also announced Rayman Jungle Run, a mobile spin-off from Rayman Origins.

Among other free-to-play titles Ubisoft detailed are Anno Online, Silent Hunter Online and The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. There are also some new console offerings coming, including Call of Juarez: The Gunslinger.
