The Strong Museum of Play has finally inducted the first electronic toy into their “Hall of Fame”. The 30 year-old Atari 2600 is also the most recently-created toy to be inducted. Other wekll known items from my childhood that can be found in the hall are the Etch-a-sketch, Frisbee, Mr. Potato Head, Play-doh and more. Although Atari has fallen on tough times, the 2600 will always be a well-loved classic by nearly all gamers. This is the system that started it all for me and I am sure it will be around forever. My parents bought me an Atari 2600 in 1982 and the console surprisingly still works. I have it hooked up to my 50 inch television. I never have to worry about red rings of death or over-heating. My trusty Atari will fire up and play the games I enjoy every time.
