Awesomenauts Dev Turns to Kickstarter to Fund Expansion

Ronimo Games, the developers of the side-scrolling 2D battle arena game Awesomenauts, have turned to Kickstarter to fund the game’s first official expansion, which is titled Awesomenauts: Starstorm.

The developer hopes to raise a not-so-paltry sum of $125,000 to create the expansion pack, which is set to offer features that cannot be added to Awesomenauts in its current form.

“We have done all that can be done within the current confinements of the game,” the studio wrote on Kickstarter. “In order to truly bring Awesomenauts to the next level, we would like to add features that require much more time and effort than we have currently allocated for it.

“You, our community, have already been so involved in the shaping of Awesomenauts into what it is today, and now you can help us take it to the next step. Help us fund Awesomenauts: Starstorm!”

Should the campaign reach its funding goal, the studio intends to add new characters to the game as well as new features like a spectator mode, global chat, twin-stick controller support, and a new soundtrack. The campaign also has stretch goals for Steam workshop integration, a level editor, a character settings editor, and an AI editor.

As of the time of this writing, the studio has received $37,261 with 29 days left on the clock, and appears to be well on its way to being fully funded.
