Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Might Be On Smartphones

At PAX Prime, the makers of the Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition were showing off the current build of the game on an iPad. The game, which drops net tuesday on PC, Mac, iPad, Android tablets, but that isn’t going to be the only version. Obviously, since it works on tablets, it runs on iOS and Android; surely this means a smartphone version is imminent, right?

Maybe, maybe not. Speaking to Explosion, Trent Oster confirmed that there is a build, but they’re not happy with it presently. “It functions on some phones,” he said, “but the UI does not support a good experience, so we’re not selling it for phones yet. Producer Philip Daigle added “if we come up with a control scheme that works well for small screens we would consider it.”

Since the skeleton is already in place, I can’t imagine they wouldn’t want to peel some coins off smartphone users, so I fully expect an iPhone edition of the game sooner rather than later. But what do you think, Game Fronters? Would you even want to play? Sound off in comments.
