Secret Mystery Broadcast

  • WARNING: Some of these broadcasts may not be available until finishing the main campaign.
  • These secret mystery broadcasts appear on Batman’s Cryptographic Sequencer. Three stations do not show up on the broadcast list, and list seemingly random numbers followed by a chime.
  • The numbers can be decoded following a simple number-to-letter cipher, but that last code is still a mystery. Help us figure it out and post your own theories on who is sending the mystery broadcast.

    I’m not getting the station at 200 x 500. Even tried 500 x 200 and nothing.

I found the 200/500 message, and just spent a while plugging it in to online decoders and ciphers, but still can’t seem to solve it…Quite the mystery, I can’t wait till someone figures it out.

I wonder if it’s some kind of word scramble. I noticed the word “riddle” in the jumble. I wonder if it’s a last message from the Riddler in anticipation of the next game?

The 500/900 is NOT “You will pay for what you have to do me”

Retards. It also is a bunch of random jumble of letters. Even if its in a random order, THERES A FRIGGEN Q AND A Z IN THERE!!!

Actually, use the formula A=3, B=2, C=1, and so on for 500/900. They are correct Trysten. I made a circular decoder to figure it out. The last of the three in the sequence still doesn’t make any sense, but, like Scott said, it might be a word descramble, like you see in the Sunday paper.

    Kato

    On October 21, 2011 at 1:56 pm

For the second one, it’s number subtracted from 30.

    It’s 30 – (number listed) = number in alphabet.

    So 30 – 5 = 25, or the 25th number in the alphabet: Y

The only exception to this are the As in the text, since 30 – 3 = 27

Assumming the alphabet repeats, the 27th letter is A. And then it all works out.

    On October 21, 2011 at 2:03 pm

Have you figured out the third one yet Kato, seeing as you figured it out using mathematics?

    Kato

Not yet. A friend and I are working on it. It’s very difficult.

I’m trying different things such as letter frequency (which is becoming a problem as there are 5 numbers that happen more than once), substitution of letters, as well as my cipher wheel. Good luck with your solution!

    Edward Nigma

    On October 22, 2011 at 10:56 pm

The third puzzle has been solved.
I AM YOUR DARKEST NIGHTMARE DARK KNIGHT GOTHAM WAITS FOR HIS SAVIOR

Just to prove, The Riddler…IS BETTER THAN YOU

    Batdude

    On October 23, 2011 at 12:21 am

Okay Mr. Nigma, how do you account for the repeated numbers in the sequence? Obviously each number has its own letter corresponding. How do you account for 26=M and 26=O ?

    TsengMao

    On October 23, 2011 at 3:07 am

It may be a different message in other areas. As I used the same A=1 cipher on all of them, and while the first one was the same, the other 2 were slightly different messages.

    1. I WILL RETURN BATMAN

    2. I WILL KILL YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME

    3. I AM YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE GOTHAMS SAVIOR

    TsengMao

    On October 23, 2011 at 3:17 am

The use of the word “nightmare” makes me think, Scarecrow.

    Edward Nigma

    On October 23, 2011 at 9:49 am

TsengMao is correct. However, Scarecrow has already appeared in the Asylum. Concidering that these messages would be either left to lead the bat to another villain in the city, or be placed as a teaser for the next game (the latter being the obvious choice as the campain of City ended before these messages appeared) and be left by who ever will be chosen as the main villain for Arkham 3. Scarecrow has always been a favorite of mine…but forgoing playing the favorite card; he simply is not that big of a villain to place the whole of the game around him. The large amount of chatter on the web would lead the most careless of minds to believe that it is inreference to the death of Jason and the messages are by the Red Hood. However the wording of these pharses does not seem like Jason’s. He never wanted to kill Bruce, but the Joker as an act of revenge. “Gotham Waits For His Savior” is the only real clue that could mean Todd. I believe it to be otherwise…

    Edward Nigma

    On October 23, 2011 at 10:18 am

Because, “What You Have Done To Me” is in the past tense–and rocksteady (albiet loyal fans) is not wanting to confuse the mass amounts of players who have probably never picked up a comic book–we can safely asume it is refering to an event and character already introduced in one of the games. There is quite a large list of them.
    Calender Man
    Hush
    Deadshot
    Azreal
    Croc
    Harley Quinn
    Joker
    Mr. Freeze
    Mad Hatter
    Scarecrow
    Ras al Ghul
    Talia
    Bane
    Poison Ivy
    Two-Face
    Hugo Strange
    The Riddler
    Zsasz
    Scarface
    Black Mask
    Penguin
    Solomon Grundy
    Clayface

Eliminate the obvious wrong answers and we are left with
Joker (The role he has played makes a return a high probability)
Scarecrow (Not big enough of a character, though nightmare does fit)
Ras al Ghul (I believe did not have as big of a role as he could have)
Hugo Strange (Was blown up in the tower? Or was Protical-11 an excape?)
The Riddler (Is known for using coded frequencies to mess with Batman)

    Edward Nigma

I have my suions..but am unwilling to divulge my opinions in the matter until all the easter eggs and clues have been revealed. Even one clue could sway everything into another direction.

    Master Key

    On October 23, 2011 at 11:43 am

How exactly did you get either of those though TsengMao or Edward Nigma?
    For #2 I got:
YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO ME

not 2. I WILL KILL YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME

And neither of the solutions posted for #3 even fit with the amount of numbers there are, so I’d really like to know how you came to that solution.

I would also like to add that these messages are available from the beginning. I started a new game in a new file, and I could hear the codes being repeated from the very first time you use the sequencer.

So we can rule out villains appearing in Arkham city, as the codes dictate a message of revenge. We can also rule out villains too stupid to to broadcast a complex code.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Scarecrow, since he’s a genius and several Easter Eggs in game hint to his presence, but I think it could also potentially be spoken by Cluemaster as a new addition to the roster later on.

    zach

    On October 24, 2011 at 4:06 pm

It’s totally scarecrow, he hasn’t been in the game yet. But he was in the first one so this would be his return. Plus the word nightmare totally gives it away

    Gotham's Hero

    On October 24, 2011 at 8:53 pm

I think that Hush is going to take a part of this more than you think because if you play the game he escapes looking like Bruce and Batman said he was gonna take care of it once he goes to the Batcave yet he doesnt go there whatsoever in the game if i am correct. Yet the voice telling the numbers doesn’t sound like The Riddler. Any guesses?

    Dr Crane

    On October 24, 2011 at 9:55 pm

I would put my money on scarecrow. It is arguable he is still alive since you find his mask, and he could take Titan and become scarebeast very easily.

    DJ

    On October 25, 2011 at 12:03 pm

So, I have heard a lot of people talking Red Hood could be sending these codes. With Jason Todd being a former Robin, you can see where the potential is there for him to be messing with Bats from afar in this cryptic sort of way. And while I agree Scarecrow also seems like a logical choice for a future game bad-guy, I have seen around the interwebs that he has his own easter-egg in the game. And then there is Azrael… his appearance in the game certainly sets up the possibility of more to come…

    Sticks

    On October 26, 2011 at 2:45 am

I reckon it will be Anarky who is supposed to be Jokers son in the comics. If you look on Wikipedia under his name it explains it there. Also further down the page on wikipedia it show a comic clip under the heading Political and philosophical themes of Anarky graffiting a wall with the letter A with a circle around it which looks extremely familiar to the Arkham Asylum posters & markings on the walls in the game. It also explains the messages…

    1. I WILL RETURN BATMAN

    2. I WILL KILL YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME

    3. I AM YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE GOTHAMS SAVIOR

As he will return as he was in this game, he will kill Batman for killing his father (Joker).

    Sparks

    On October 26, 2011 at 12:54 pm

Well im going to say its Hush. As was stated earlier Hush (Thomas Elliot) walks away at the end of the identity killer sidequest, plus he explains why he hates Batman so much (recap, he tried to kill his parents to gain control of the fortune but Bruce’s father saves his mother thwarting his plan, there is more to it though).
Now if you read Batman:Hush you’ll understand how well he understands Batman and how well he can manipulate events to his own ends i.e. the death of Batman.
Anyway thats my opinion and im sticking to it.

oh on a side note the Anarky himself believes that Joker is his father, there is never any concrete proof to support it

    DJ

    On October 26, 2011 at 4:01 pm

    re: Sticks

So while the grafitti-covered Arkham City posters do look like the symbol for anarchy, I don’t think its a tie-in to the character you’re talking about. While Joker might be dead in the game, the only clue to there being a “son of Joker” is the positive pregnancy test in Joker’s office. So unless the character Anarky is sending messages from the future to Batman in the past, I hate to say it, your theory doesn’t hold water. Interesting thought though

so I think the third message has been solved

and also the second message up here is wrong

anyways the message is here http://arkhamcity.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=7667

I searched it and found this http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/tut.htm

then I looked up batman villains http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Batman_Family_enemies

and found a certain villain named king tut

    the description as follows

He did not appear in a comic book until Batman Confidential #26 (February 2009) with the name of Victor Goodman. He leaves behind clues at the scene of his crimes in similar fashion to the Riddler. In his first comic appearance, this ironically leads to him fighting not only Batman, but also the Riddler, who does not appreciate his modus operandi being stolen. The morbidly obese character from the television show is in stark contrast to the physically fit representation in the comic books.

    On October 28, 2011 at 12:04 am

Se7en, you might be right. The frequencies do hover around the 500′s. Everyone should google Batman #500, which produces a nice spoilery possibility.

    SPOILERS TO FOLLOW:

    -

If it is in fact Jean-Paul Valley as the Azrael-Batman, it would make a lot of sense in the context of the messages. Arkham Asylum already made references to Knightfall, so it may be the solution here. I’m aware that Azrael is already in the game but his design resembles Michael Lane, the second Azrael.

Third message cracked on the arkham city forums… way too complicated to post how they got it, but it uses 3 seperate levels of encryption…but it has been confirmed, the full message is “I will return Batman. You will pay for what you have done to me. FEAR WILL TEAR GOTHAM CITY TO SHREDS.”

    Kato

    On November 7, 2011 at 8:29 am

THE THIRD BATMAN CODE HAS BEEN SOLVED.

    How to do it:

    First the numbers:
    3-20-26-18-26-16-24-1-11-4-24-9-3-8-5-2-12-18-6-16-7-11-3-10-17-5-13-4-21-8

    The numbers turn into:
    C T Z R Z P X A K D X I C H E B L R F P G K C J Q E M D U H

Then run an Atbash Cipher ( http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/atbash.php ) and you get:
    X G A I A K C Z P W C R X S V Y O I U K T P X Q J V N W F S

Then you need to use the Vigenere Cipher. ( http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/vigenere.php )
THE ANSWER is actually the PASSPHRASE:

A guy thought it was going to be Scarecrow’s message, so he entered FEAR as the key! Lo and behold, through trial and error, FEARWILLT as the start of the passcode became SCARECROW as the solution.

He kept trying letters until he hit 30.

    The solution is:
    SCARECROWSCARECROWSCARECROWSCA.

    The passphrase is:
    FEARWILLTEARGOTHAMCITYTOSHREDS

“Fear will tear Gotham City to shreds.”

    Check it out! It works!

Credit for the solution goes to Gamefaqs User: akajackfrost

    It’s obviously Scarecrow.

    Fear?

    Grimesby

    On November 20, 2011 at 2:00 am

    Kato:

No, “Scarecrow” is the key and “Fear will…” is the message. You’re using the Vigenere Square backwards. Take the row associated with the keyword letter and the column associated with the plaintext letter. So Row S Column F gets X, Row C Column E gets G, etc.

    Grimesby

    On November 20, 2011 at 2:09 am

So then when you’re decoding, you go to row S (from the key) move along the row to X (from the ciphertext) and you get F. The reason it seemed to be backward is because “Fear” was assumed to be the key, when it was really “Scarecrow.” Still, props for whoever deciphered all three levels, even if the third took longer than necessary.

    SupERSniPER327

    On January 9, 2012 at 2:48 pm

My hypothesis: I did hear the numbers and everyone ignores that chime at the end. The chime at the end comes from the first game. The answer you are looking for is bound to be in the first game. Rocksteady is hinting at Anarky because you can see the symbols everywhere in the first game. Joker’s child? And I am not sure because i don’t have the game anymore but were those lines decoded in the first game. IDK. Could be scarecrow…? Am I getting to somethig?

    Danial

    On January 9, 2012 at 5:00 pm

To decode the last 1 you have to use the atbash sipher so A is subsitited for Z Y for B X for C ect. That will give you another screwed up word. So finally use the vigenere cipher by using the keyword scarecrow to get the final result ‘fear will tear Gotham city to shreds’

    Rogue_Angel

    On January 12, 2012 at 10:53 am

I think it’s the scare crow because of the last message, FEAR WILL TEAR GOTHAM TO SHREDS, plus there is a easter egg for the scare crow. Go to youtube.com and look up: Scare Crow easter egg batman arkham city.

    Nicholas Brent Byrd

    On January 16, 2012 at 12:24 am

I believe it may also reference that the next game will be set in the entirety of Gotham City; Scarecrow seems the logical choice, especially given Batman Begins.

    nightwing

    On February 6, 2012 at 4:11 pm

i think that it is scarecrow because of the cryptonic decoder easter egg on the boat that opens up a trap door when you go down you see a bunch of bugs and a dead henchmen in a chair. to the right of the man there is a note on the wall if you read the note it is made out to Dr.J.Crane otherwise known as scarecrow.
also at the end of the first game scarecrow appears to come out of the water but is not introduced during arkham city.

    nightwing

    On February 6, 2012 at 4:51 pm

whoever is saying it could be red hood I think is wrong because the red robin costume is a costume for robin (tim drake). the red robin costume is avalible as a DLC for tim and the costume originnaly was jason todd’s costume not tim’s.
also talia al ghul reserected jason todd to kill batman .In arkham city it dosen’t seem like she wants to kill batman so i don’t think that jason will even be introduced in the game.

    nightwing

    On February 6, 2012 at 5:15 pm

jason todd also didn’t take up the batman characteristics untill after batmans death and the only reason he became batman is because greyson refused.
so the mysterious messenger is not and will not be jason todd.

    Jack Napier

    On February 6, 2012 at 6:09 pm

this kid is making alot of sense and jason todd never wanted to kill batman.
I don’t think Anarky would be sending the messages because he wou8ld have to be sending the messages from the future….. they could but unlikely.
FEAR WILL TEAR GOTHAM TO SHREDS,I AM YOUR DARKEST NIGHTMARE DARK KNIGHT GOTHAM WAITS FOR ITS SAVIOR.
these codes obviesley point to scarecrow because of the words fear and nightmare.

    On March 16, 2012 at 6:37 pm

The numbers could allow Actuary to come in – but he is not well known – but would explain all the coding and numbers.
Ra’s Al Ghul is practically immortal so he will come back. I guess in the next Arkham, Azrael will come back as a playable character as he takes over batman for awhile when he breaks his back. They should introduce a free roam with playable characters such as Nightwing…

    MepShadow_1215

    On March 21, 2012 at 10:58 pm

I think it’s Scarecrow. If anybody bothered to wait till the credits were done rolling in the first game, it shows a crate of TITAN floating in the water, and then, spontaneously, Scarecrow’s syringe-fingered hand coming up and grabbing it. Since he never actually appears in this game, there might be a 3rd game that has to do with these codes OR a DLC for this one… only time will tell.

    Casey

    On July 6, 2012 at 3:39 am

Wow……How could Joker’s kid be sending out cryptic messages if he hasn’t even been born yet?? We don’t even know for sure if Harley is pregnant….there were a lot of negative tests and on the box it says it may show a false positive.

Another thing…how is this not obvious as hell?!?! Keywords: FEAR, NIGHTMARE…come on!

    VahnL23

    On July 26, 2012 at 1:05 am

Well if you actually wait through the credits it reveals that Harley Quinn is in fact pregnant and that she is singing to her unborn child. Now as for the last message I am going with the Scarecrow plot as well for the next one……but in Arkham Asylum you can actually get three different endings after the credits. When I beat it I got to see Banes hand grab the container of Titan. The final scene is that of Killer Croc’s hand grabbing the Titan container, which doesnt make nearly as much sense

It’s Scarecrow. In Batman Arkham Knight, there is a bomb filled with fear gas that is threatened to explode in Gotham, that is the whole premise of the next game. Also I predict Batman will die in the end of the next game because of the Mysterious Man Quest in Arkham City. In each game there is a clue to some part of the next game.

I figured out the crazy sipher for the last message. First off you have to cycle through the whole alphabet with each of the starting letters either foreward or backward. For the first number you would move foreward from D=1. Starting with W=1 you would go backward. Z=1 going backward. A=1. Thats the first word. The next word X=1 going foreward. Then X=1 going backwards. Going backwards from I=1.L=1 so no movement in tne letters. The third word J=1 foreward. B=1 foreward. D=1 foreward. J=1 foreward. The forth word E=1 foreward. H=1 foreward. P=1 foreward. G=1 foreward. P=1 forward. C=1 backward. The fifth word X=1 foreward. V=1 backward. N=1 foreward. O=1 foreward. The sixth word R=1 foreward. F=1 forward. The final word C=1 foreward. D=1 foreward. F=1 foteward. B=1 foreward. X=1 backward. L=1 foreward. Please remember to cycle through the whole alphabet.
