Battlefield 3 Beta: A Graphical Comparison Between Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
Sure, the Battlefield 3 beta, unlike many other game betas, really is an early build of the game’s multiplayer. It really does feel like DICE and EA are trying to test the thing, and not just using it as a marketing tool, as indicated by its many bugs and weirdnesses. On the PC, we also know that the beta isn’t what we’ll be (literally) seeing at retail release — DICE hasn’t even allowed users to access BF3′s ultra settings. So it’ll be a great deal prettier.
But what we’re getting with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions is probably pretty close to what the game will look like in the end. And while both consoles will be blown out of the water by the graphical quality afforded to PC players, it’s also worth a look to see how the console market’s two aged warriors handle EA’s would-be Call of Duty-killer.
Our intrepid video team has put together a little graphical comparison for those two versions (we couldn’t get a decent frame rate going on the PC beta to make a worthy comparison). Don’t expect this to be exactly how things will look on launch day, but this might color your decision on which non-PC version to acquire.
