Battlefield 3 Coming in Fall 2011

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the cancellation of the PC version of Battlefield 1943 and the Onslaught DLC for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, DICE is showing off the first tease of Battlefield 3.

In a short video clip that reveals absolutely nothing about the game, you’ll see soldiers, helicopters, and jets. None of this is a surprise. Says the Battlefield Blog,

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you’ll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch.

The reveal also brings word that the March cover of Game Informer will feature the upcoming shooter. The image above is taken from that cover.

There’s also a brand new site for Battlefield 3, even it is rather sparsely populated at the moment. You can check it out here.

Here’s the Battlefield 3 teaser trailer. It’s definitely a tease, as it reveals no game footage. Instead, it shows off a few silhouettes, the logo, and the targeted fall release. Watch the embed below, or download it here.

FINALLY. Me (and a large amount of other people) are so sick of all this Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, etc. bs.

One thing I unfortunately foresee is a large multitude of ripoffs if this game is successful enough. But still, you never know…

I would love to see the return of all the classes from BF2 and not just the typical 3 DICE is including in their newest games. And the healthbar, too. Bloody screen is so lame.

After releasing an update for both Bf2 and 2142 I would not be surprised if they only release the game for the console or cancel it altogether since they cancelled 1943?

There are no suggestions.
