Battlefield 3 Has 12-Hour Campaign

There is a place for campaign modes in online shooters. I never stopped believe that, since I’m not the type of person to play any game online for very long. My record is the three weeks I played Halo 3 online before never playing it again when The Orange Box came out. I don’t stick with one game because I get bored. But I might revisit a game’s campaign from time to time. I’ve even played Black Ops’ twice. I just like stories, and I really don’t like people that much. I’m kinda a shut-in!

People like me are one reason for the campaigns, but we aren’t the only reason. Karl Magnus Troedsson of DICE tells Games.On.Net they’ve got another explanation for including a beefy, 12-hour campaign in Battlefield 3.

A lot of people don’t want to jump straight into multiplayer. They want to feel around a bit and they’re ready to move over to online. The hardcore online people, they don’t care, they’re just straight in.

Maybe they don’t even touch the campaign. But we want to get more people in, invite more people into the franchise. That’s one of the main reasons why we have this different part of the game.

That seems pretty logical. Watch the full interview here.
