Battlefield 3 Premium Service Announced Alongside 2-Week PS3 Exclusivity

Following in the footsteps of the Call of Duty Elite service, EA announced this morning that it will offer a similar service for Battlefield 3 players. For an up-front $50 fee, you’ll have access to five expansion packs to be released throughout the coming year, starting with “Back to Karkand.” This leads to a significant discount if you plan on purchasing every single content pack. Additional perks of the service include the ability to erase your multiplayer stats, among others.

Although EA makes Premium available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, PS3 users will be allowed to download all content two weeks before it releases for everyone else. Sound familiar? Activision has an exclusivity deal with Microsoft, making all Call of Duty DLC available for Xbox 360 owners first. We’ll have to see if a similar exclusivity deal between EA and Sony will prove to be as fruitful.
