Battlefield 3 Sells 8 Million

After selling 5 million in the first week on shelves, Battlefield 3 has been rolling along at a not-terrible pace, as sales are now up to 8 million. That’s what EA SFO Eric Brown said at the Baird Tech Conference in SF this week.

That’s a pretty good number, but it’s obvious that Modern Warfare 3 has cut into BF3′s numbers. Still, 8 million is nothing to sneeze at, and they can be perfectly happy with that number. It’s something to build on in the future, for sure. They’ll just try to keep on chipping away with future shooter releases.

it begins

look at activision with guitar hero, they talked maaad about rock band falling on it’s ass.

Rock band 1 didnt do as good as GHWT, but it still took a percentage of the market that Activision doesn’t get. GH5 fell flat on it’s ass and Rock Band 2 did better, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock came out and flopped, Rock Band 3 took the lead now.

Same with Skateboarding games, look at Tony Hawk, now Skate 3 is at the top.

EA’s CEO said it himself, even if they sell 5 million, it’s still 5 million Activision doesn’t have and it sets the base for what is to come.

Both games are good for different obvious reasons, I just with modern warfare 3 wasn’t just a reskin of mw2. I still play it but because my friends do and its better to play with friends. I need a new gfx card for my PC tho so bf3 can be even more awesome.
