Battlefield 4 Beta: Fall 2013; Not Just for Warfighter Buyers

A Battlefield 3 Community Manager has made an official post on reddit with a bounty of information surrounding the Battlefield 4 beta, currently scheduled for fall 2013. The best news is the clarification that the beta won’t be restricted to consumers who purchase Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

In his post, the CM stated that while EA presently doesn’t have a BF4 release date yet, it will obviously be after the beta. The team will continue to support BF3, just as they’ve continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, and he assured fans that starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that EA or DICE we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard on expansions.

On the topic of the BF4 beta, the CM said:

“There will be other ways to get into the beta aside from MoH Warfighter. At this time, however, it is the only way to guarantee entry.”

Worthy of note to PC players is this tidbit on the topic of day 1 mod support, which the CM fully supports:

“Personally I think it’d be great. Pushing hard.”

Is 2013 too soon for a Battlefield sequel, or is two years just the right amount of time to wait?

So EA wants us to get excited for the BETA of their game that doesn’t even come out til a year and a half from now?

. . . . . And Electronic Arts wonders why people say they are out of touch.

Actually, I’m willing to bet BF4 is in fact a futuristic shooter akin to a Battlefield 2142 sequel. If this is the case, then I don’t think it’s too soon for a sequel. Heck, BF2 and 2142 were only a year apart. But if it does turn out to be another modern shooter, in essence a slightly upgraded BF3, then it’s too soon.
