Battlefield 4 PC System Requirements: Is Your Rig Tough Enough?

Every year, there’s a game that’s on the schedule that makes PC gamers wonder if their rig is equipped to handle it. This year, that game is Battlefield 4. Built on the Frostbite 3 engine, its trailers have some PC gamers wondering if their hardware will be up to the task.

Earlier today, the official Battlefield twitter removed any questions about what sort of machine you’d need to run BF4 when they posted the system requirements for the upcoming shooter on Twitter.

Looks like it’s time to stop putting off that upgrade!

Those specs are not really requiring a killer setup by any means.

I give my 0.02

True, but the recommended specs went up by an okay amount. BF3 recommended GPU(NVIDIA side) was 560, now it’s a 660. So I’d say GPUs like the 670, 680, 7970+GHz, will continue to max it with little frames to spare for vsync.

30Gb? And this is planned for release on Xbox 360? Bet whoever had to find a way to compress that on to one DVD had a hard time.

the VRAM requirement doesn’t make any sense. its most likely just a number put up to impress or outdo competition. i suspect the 2GB standard will do just fine.

30 gigs is a bit much. Rome 2 said the same thing and it is currently 18.5 GB on my HDD.

Windows 8? yea……. though i am happy so see 64Bit

Most people who play Battlefield 3 seem to play at Low settings anyways so I don’t really see the recommended hardware an issues.

64 bit is required due to memory limitations
3GB VRAM is most likely for multiple monitor set ups

Im on the 4670k/7790 OC, I really wonder how it’ll run since I already pre ordered it

I meet those requirements. Not sure what the one dude says about playing it on Low. Maybe if your trying to be super competitive than its worth it. However, the game is beautiful and its worth it to have the eye candy up.

@Russell: In the past (specifically in BF:V, and maybe BF2 as well), it was possible to game the engine into not drawing things like grass. There were several maps in BFV where this represented a huge advantage.
