Battlefield 4: Second Assault Next Week, Naval Strike Detailed
Problems persist in Battlefield 4. My personal gripe: being shot while 100% behind cover because of frame rate issues. Still, it’s night and day compared to where it was at launch and ready or not, DICE is moving on. That means the DLC hiatus is over and Second Assault is set for release on February 18 for Premium subscribers, March 4 for everyone else.
In this expansion, you’ll experience intense water-based combat as the Chinese armada takes the fight to the sea. You’ll have access to new weapons, gadgets, and amphibious vehicles, and four all-new maps – Lost Island, Nansha Strike, Wave Breaker, and Operation Mortar.
Most notable among Naval Assault’s additions is a new game mode called Carrier Assault. If you ever played the fantastic Battlefield 2142 Titan Mode, you should be pumped, because Carrier Assault is the Battlefield 4 version of Titan.
Ah, mem’ries. Watching this video while thinking about the current state of the Battlefield franchise and the shooter landscape as a whole, I can’t help but think the next game from DICE will be a Battlefield 2142 sequel. Like the shooter genre moved on from WWII, it’s moving on from modern warfare to the future/sci-fi with the likes of Titanfall and Destiny. I don’t think EA will leave one of its marquee franchises behind.
As for Naval Strike, it’s set to arrive for Premium members in “late March.”
