BBC Hilariously Confuses Halo UNSC With UN Security Council
After last week’s horrific massacre in the Syrian city of Houla – 108 people killed, execution style, including 38 children – it must be tempting to want to send in a super hero to save the day. It’s either that, or hilarious incompetence, that led to the BBC’s hilarious image you see above.
It’s a still from Thursday’s One O’Clock News on BBC. During a report on the ongoing turmoil in Syria, the discussion turned to the United Nations and the graphics team inserted the Halo UNSC logo where the UN logo should have gone. I get that Master Chief would indeed present an effective response to the turmoil in Syria, but for my money, Commander Shepard is a better bet.
Har har. Anyway, I think we can guess what happened. They needed a graphic insert for right when the news anchor begins to discuss the United Nations Security Council. Whomever handled graphics that day assumed that the Council would have a logo of their own, so they did a google image search and found this. Smooth, guys.
Just FYI to news team graphics people: The UN Security Council doesn’t have a logo. They use the UN logo. Anyway, because of the BBC’s policy of only making video content available for 24 hours, and (we suspect) shame, the video is no longer available on the BBC website. Luckily, an intrepid viewer have posted a copy to Youtube so we can point and laugh for eternity or, at least, until the BBC Cs and Ds it. So come on everyone, let’s all point at the BBC and laugh.
