Be Nice to Your Squad Or They Won’t Listen in Binary Domain (VIDEO)

One of the cooler ideas to get major play in Mass Effect 2, in my opinion, was the idea of building loyalty among your squad. Much of the game is composed of missions in which you help a character deal with some personal issue in order to free them up for the mission at hand. Back in Knights of the Old Republic II, the way you dealt with your allies and your actions while they were hanging out with you determined much of how they acted with you, as well as whether you could help train them to be Jedi over time.

The latest video from Sega’s Binary Domain also harps on the idea of interacting with your squad, but in a much more immediate way. The characters you bring into your squad effect the story and individual battles with how they fight, and how much they trust you — based on your comments to them and whether you’re a sucky leader or not — will determine whether they’ll answer your squad commands and how the game will play out. It’s called the Consequences system, and it sounds kinda brilliant.
