Be Thankful For These Fantastic Free Indie Games
While there’s a fancier version available via Steam, the original release of this charming and inventive Japanese platformer developed by one guy (Daisuke Amaya, aka Pixel) is still absolutely great. It’s an expansive action-adventure with a great story, and it’ll have anyone who grew up playing games like Super Metroid totally hooked from the opening minutes. Note that you’ll need to download an optional English language pack from the source link below if you want to understand what’s going on. Or don’t, and go for the completely authentic experience. (Seriously, though, you’ll want the pack.)
Super Crate Box
Family drama got you down? Let off some steam by shooting stuff. Lots and lots of stuff, with bigger and bigger weapons. Super Crate Box is a celebration of blasting bad guys, with the only goal being to get as high a score as possible. It’s almost maddening in its challenge, but you’ll want to keep going if just to discover what awaits you inside the next crate. Be advised that we cannot be held responsible for broken controllers, furniture, or monitors.
