Become Johnny Mnemonic in Virtual Reality Hacking Game, Darknet

At the 2013 VR Jam, E McNeill’s Ciess took the $10,000 top prize. That win was a springboard for McNeill to revise and expand his project, and now he’s ready to share. Meet Darknet, the virtual reality strategy game that brings Hollywood cyber hacking to life.

Jack into cyberspace, figure out how to break through the cybersecurity, and reach the data before your connection gets traced. That’s Darknet in a nutshell, and it’s being designed from the ground up to be played using the Oculus Rift for a true virtual reality experience.

McNeill also put together a clip reel of some of his Hollywood influences that highlight the cyberpunk world he’s shooting for:

Darknet is an Oculus Rift exclusive. No release date just yet, but McNeill says it will be priced between $10 and $20. For additional details, follow along on McNeill’s Darknet subreddit, where he says he hopes to engage readers in an ongoing AMA.
