Bethesda and ZeniMax Sue Skyrim Map App Maker

The busiest legal team in the gaming business is at it again. Via Edge Online, we learn that Blalock, the creator of Dragon Shout for Skyrim, has been hit with a copyright infringement notice.

While I’m sure Blalock only had the best intentions, he (or she) is on pretty shaky legal ground. Bethesda owns the trademark on “Skyrim,” and although the map that forms the basis for the app (which allows players to keep track of their progress in the world) is hand-drawn, it’s littered with locations that are presumably also part of the Maryland developer’s intellectual property. Considering how aggressive the company were while going after Mojang’s new game Scrolls, I doubt this news comes as a surprise to anyone.
