Bethesda Announces Prey 2 for PC, PS3, 360
Remember Prey? The first-person shooter from Human Head Games was announced way back in 1995, and finally hit retail in 2006. Interestingly, it was originally announced by 3D Realms (of Duke Nukem Forever fame), and after several false starts, was handed to Human Head to develop on the id Tech 4 engine. Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax Media acquired the rights to the series from 3D realms back in 2009, and now they have announced a sequel is in the works.
Development is in the hands of Human Head, and it will again star Tommy, the Cherokee garage mechanic and former U.S. Army soldier who battled aliens in the first game. There’s no real info on what Tommy will be doing this time around, but here’s what Chris Rhinehart, project lead for Prey 2, had to say:
We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda on Prey 2. Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world. We’re excited to show gamers the title we have been working on and hope they will be as excited by this title as we are.
No word yet on anything resembling a release date other than ‘next year’, but we do know that it’s coming for PC, PlayStation 3 and XBox 360. If you want more info, you can look for it in the May issues of Official Xbox Magazine and PlayStation: The Official Magazine.
