Bethesda: Skyrim Creation Kit on Track for Tuesday Release, Plus a ‘Bonus’

At long last, the developer mod tools for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim known as the Creation Kit is almost upon us, and perhaps a little something more, as well.

According to a Twitter update from Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines, the Creation Kit is on-pace launch on Steam on Tuesday. Now, get excited but don’t get too excited, as Bethesda has been giving us almost-maybe-kind-of dates for the Creation Kit since before Skyrim’s launch. Just be prepared to continue to be patient, but it seems everyone is optimistic that Feb. 7 is the day to go mod crazy.

Here’s an additional really cool thing: Hines says there will be a “special surprise” to go with the Creation Kit when it launches. He teases it pretty heavily with no information, and we have no idea what that could be. Maybe free DLC? Maybe dragons are about to reign fire all over our faces? Maybe Bethesda is readying a mod to bring Skyrim into 2012? God I hope it’s all those things.

Check back next week for more.

I hope its a 50% off skyrim day for steam, so I can buy it without feeling like I spent too much when I have already had 3 full Play through of the game ranging around 300 hours.

The surprise is it will be full of bugs and most features will not work properly. Oh wait, that would not be a surprise.
