Bethesda Trademark Hints At New Skrim DLC, ‘Hearthfire’

Venture Beat, always good for these kinds of scoops, has noticed a stealthy trademark filing that may reveal the title of the next Skyrim DLC.

Bethesda’s parent, ZeniMax, has filed a trademark for something called Hearthfire, which Elder Scrolls fans will quickly recognize as a month in the Elder Scrolls universe calendar. It’s a period associated with necromancy, suggesting (as Venture Beat notes) perhaps that zombies are about to make an appearance in Skyrim. That makes sense, as we already have Vampires and Werewolves. Now we just need mummies and space aliens to complete the classic b movie monster look.

The filing says Hearthfire is “Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices.” Which seems to pretty much confirm it’s the next Skyrim DLC. Of course, this will come as cold comfort to PS3 owners who have yet to receive Dawnguard. Sorry guys. But the rest of you, prepare to enjoy the new content.

Still haven’t gotten around to even buying Dawnguard.
