According to JeuxVideo, Michel Ancel has confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is currently in production and has been for the past year, but that Ubisoft is shuffling its feet and had not decided whether to move ahead with the production phase.
Supposedly there are between 10-12 people currently at work on the game and here is what I have translated from teh site:
At the time of an interview granted to our fellow-members of JeuxVideo Magazine, Michel Ancel (dad of Rayman) declared that Beyond Good & Evil 2 are currently in phase of préproduction. Regarded as being one of the best plays of the year 2003, Beyond Good & Evil unfortunately to discounted business success be was not entitled. “I work on Beyond Good & Evil 2. We have been in préproduction for one year, and we carry out a research task in small committee. But for the moment, it is at the stage of outline, Ubisoft did not give its agreement yet” specified Ancel during the interview. In slides, he announces that they are 10 to 12 people who work on the project.
“We want to be in the continuity of the first: a large variety of phases of play, much of emotions in the gameplay and the attaching characters. This time we approach the future of planet, the report/ratio with the animals [...]”. Enticing, isn’t this? It is hoped in any case that the French editor will quickly give his green light And why not an advertisement to the UbiDays event?
Sounds like great news to me and other fans of Miss Jade.
