BF3 Patches to Only Be Available Through Origin

EA has confirmed that Origin will be the only way to update Battlefield 3. Forget about downloading patches through mirrors — like Game Front — in order to get faster download speeds or to save the file to disk.

BF3′s latest patch weighed in at a hefty 3.6 gigs, so we’re not dealing with inconsequential file sizes. While Origin has provided fast download speeds for most users, Australian players have been desperate for mirrors.

However, EA has no plans for a standalone installer, making Origin the only means through which you can update BF3.

Yeah, the last I checked Steam was the only place I could get updates for TF2, Killing Floor, MW2, MW3, BlackOps, Left 4 Dead, Portal 2, Skyrim etc, no stand alone patch installers, woe is me. I’m sure glad I don’t have to deal with BF3 and that Origin nonsense too.

BTW, EA has never had plans for BF Heroes or BF Play 4 Free standalone patches either.

I don’t understand how people hate Origin but love Steam and OnLive lol

Origin doesn’t really work terribly well yet either.

Origin needs lips just to suck. I’m tired of authorization server fails, huge system resource requirements and douchebag tech support dweebs.

well… if they’re only planning on having s#1tty Origin do all the updates they should think about fixing that piece of garbage first, morons… I don’t care about BF3 crashing cause ill eventually find the source of the problem, but not being able to update it and play it online is really irresponsible from EA, specially when they won’t even respond to their customers. Its been 3 days since I bought the game and still can’t update it.
